Now you know why so many brands are moving away from Ultra phones.
Ultra models represent the highest level of engineering investment. Larger camera sensors, more complex imaging systems, premium displays, and increasingly aggressive hardware all come at a significant cost.
Yet many of these devices end up selling only a few hundred thousand units.
As of June 21, 2026, the combined sales of all major Android Ultra models in China are still only a small fraction of the iPhone 17 series.
That may also explain why Samsung has never fully embraced the increasingly aggressive Ultra approach adopted by many Chinese brands.
Better specifications do not automatically translate into better sales.
In the end, great products are about much more than simply pushing hardware to the limit.
@geoffschwartz What do people want? There’s only ever gonna be like a dozen schools that have a realistic title shot in our lifetime. Same as it’s ever been.
I’d rather watch Penn State play SMU in a game that means something vs a bowl game that half of each team’s roster sits out for.
