I have tried to explain what a blockchain is like to a 12-year-old.

For those of you who know the concept of blockchain but want the root, this should help 👇

What a blockchain actually is...

Forget the jargon for a second.
Imagine a notebook that isn't kept by one bank, but copied onto thousands of computers around the world at once.

Whenever someone makes a transaction, all those computers update their copy of the notebook in the same way, at the same time, and agree on the result.

Nobody owns the notebook.
Nobody can secretly erase a page.
That shared, tamper-resistant notebook is a Blockchain.

A few notebooks (blockchains) you'll hear about constantly:

TON (The Open Network): built into Telegram itself, so anyone with Telegram can get a wallet in a couple of taps.

Bitcoin: the original, basically just "digital money," nothing else.

Ethereum: money plus the ability to run small programs ("smart contracts") on top of it.

Solana: like Ethereum but built for speed and near-zero fees; this is where most memecoin activity happens today.
