I train like an absolute maniac at times and a lot of people don’t get it so I’ve been asked “what are you training for?” A million and one times. Well, in my first year of going to the gym right around the time my dad was recovering from his brain surgeries, he fell. I never
Even though I’m largely viewed as “high energy”, I’ve often met dudes who think I look too relaxed for someone who is working to “make it.” Almost all they talk about is hustling, making it big and balling. Some will even say, dismissively, that “it’s not about speaking much English.”
(There are several variations of this attitude, even in non-English-speaking countries. The point is usually to suggest that you’re too refined and “uppity” to hustle).
But almost every day, between 5am and 1pm, I make and act on more decisions than they probably do in a year. In terms of my continuous education, vocation and responsibilities, my reach is also relatively broad, and I literally don’t stop until I’m ill. Also, I’m still more likely to do the so-called “embarrassing jobs” irrespective of my perceived credentials. They, on the other hand, can afford to gist at three casual stops on their way somewhere and scroll on social media for two hours straight.
If you said they aren’t matching their actions with their ambitions, you might be right. But dismissing their attitude by simply calling them lazy may not capture their circumstances.
The truth is, conscientiousness and purposefulness are driven more by courage and mental fortitude than by sheer ability or willingness to work. And these things are largely influenced by one’s self-image:
You have to see yourself a certain way before you can take control or apply yourself to certain areas of your life.
You can copy the specific things a purposeful person does and still fall short of becoming a purposeful person, because you don’t possess the psychological ingredients that enable you to face certain tests, prove yourself, and attain results that are meant for you and you alone.
I’ve had my current Bible for four years now, and I would like to get a Study Bible.
My heart is actually racing because I don’t like the idea of putting myself out there, but if you see this, kindly repost? 🥹and like?
I would really like to win this.
