“For I have invented, in poems, the stellar autumn. That is why hope cannot die.”
— L. A. Sándor, Stellar Autumn, 2000
Ninety-six poems. Three volumes. Four tongues. I set them side by side, so the same autumn can be read in more than one language. Not yet through the door.

**Do You Still Remember, Good Friend…**
You know, friend, how sometimes even the late evenings fade
away…
You know, friend, how sometimes the tear fades over a poem?
And do you remember back when you were and still continue to
be
a handshake and a Joy…
Do you still remember, good friend,
how sometimes even a “Happy New Year!” was, once upon a
time…
And do you remember how today I no longer know how to tell
you
that “Never” does not exist?
I just remain…
Just like another time.
Do you still remember, good friend,
do you still remember remorse too?
Do you still remember when everything is posthumous
and everything seems to be a great solace…
Do you still know what we once were? Two friends, just that…
A friendship and a great distance…
And today time, which still asks us: “How much?”…
Has there remained of the great, of the great question?
Do you still remember, good friend,
how what once was, anyway was already always?
How what I would still wish to say…
Are we, a moment, towards God…
So many words as if they wouldn’t be, or maybe they would be
to be said…
But of all those that are uttered,
I learned, once, to look “up”
and I guarantee that among them there are also Crucified
words…
And maybe there is at least a “thimble” of remorse
and maybe there is an “inch” of poetry;
but everything seems measured and it hurts,
even the “quarter” of this “dram” that will not be…
And, Good Evening, decent friend,
and, Happy New Year, my friend!
I just wrote to you now, as it still seems fitting,
a thought of good and a “spark” from God…
Happy New Year!

**My Free Dream**
How many times,
Oh, if you only knew, how many times,
I looked for you, in the grand night…
To find you,
I did not know how,
My dream,
Wandering and fugitive.
I looked for you,
Behind the stars and I looked for you,
Behind the
brilliant Morning Stars,
Among the whispers of the galaxies,
I looked for you,
and in the silence,
of the Universe,
I hoped, I,
to find you.
But I found nothing,
but a trace,
of a fleeting comet,
that met you,
in the great passing,
But unfortunately,
it no longer remembered.
Were you hidden,
My Dream,
Behind the star of solitude?
Or were you together with,
Hope,
At the end,
of the Universe,
Who can still know!
The comet was in too much of a hurry.
The main thing was, that the dream,
had not died,
but it is free,
freer anyway than,
My Reality,
freer even than,
The hurried comet.
No!
The dream has not died.
I, perhaps, will die,
Here in Reality,
So that I can live,
There in the dream,
Free!
I will succeed!

**Spring Nights**
Starry nights,
Of Transylvanian
Spring,
To walk, beneath,
Billions of stars,
Singing forgotten romances,
May the longing not wound me.
Spring nights,
Serene,
Spring nights,
With a breeze of wind,
Transylvanian,
What a longing for home,
From my soul,
behold, flies,
Towards the orchards with cherry trees,
Which I miss,
And the loved ones to be,
A thousand,
At the table!
Spring nights,
Oh, Lord,
How I still love you,
And behold, with tears,
In my eyes,
I stand and wonder,
Why must it indeed,
hurt,
Here far away,
The cherry trees that bloom?

L’Amant du Rêve
J’écris ce poème,
À toi,
mon amant qui sera,
Maintenant de loin,
Par un soir tardif,
Vivant avec l’espoir,
qu’un jour,
Tout comme dans le rêve,
Je te trouverai…
Car je voudrais
te rencontrer, mon amour,
dans un café à Paris,
Et après des années te sourire,
Tout comme maintenant dans le rêve…
Puis sur quelque
Boulevard de Paris,
bras dessus bras dessous avec toi, mon amour,
je voudrais
l’accomplissement du rêve,
Et à côté de moi,
Toi, toujours heureuse !
Et comme dans le rêve,
dans la Tour Eiffel,
je voudrais te dire,
Je t’aime, pour toujours,
Te donner,
Mon amour, une bague,
Toi,
Pour être ma femme éternelle.

Extrait de The Stellar Autumn Trilogy
The Lover from the Dream
I write this poem,
To You,
my lover who will be,
Now from afar,
On a late evening,
Living with the hope,
that once,
Just like in the dream,
I will find you…
For I would wish
to meet you, my love,
at a café in Paris,
And after years to smile at you,
Just like now in the dream…
Then on some
Boulevard of Paris,
arm in arm with you, my love,
I would wish
the fulfillment of the dream,
And beside me,
You, Always happy!
And as in the dream,
in the Eiffel Tower,
I would want to tell you,
Je t’aime, forever,
To give you,
Mon amour, a ring,
You,
To be my eternal wife.

**Pages of Love**
We smiled sometimes,
Together,
Both happy
And dreaming,
We walked
Beneath the sky,
Beneath the moon,
Among trees
That snowed
Petals with flowers.
You,
Sometimes looked at me,
Silent and sad,
And your eyes wept
Bitter tears,
And yet,
You smiled at me,
Through tears
That today no longer exist,
Just as there are no longer
any dreams,
which used to hurt
today
so deeply!
Then we left,
Both of us!
You, towards a Star!
I?
Who knows,
For it is long since then,
Since we moved
Our love
Into poetry…

**Once**
On my side, suffering has been
far too many times,
and if I was deceived,
Lord, I kept my faith.
From here, from the life that hurts,
I am happy in dreams,
and dreams from dreams continue to fly,
Lord, towards You, towards the Infinite.
And if people confiscated my smile,
if they confiscated my desire to be,
I can still nevertheless believe in it
and in the day when He will arrive.
In my house, in my soul,
and to all those born in suffering,
God will return, once,
from dreams and from humiliation.
And if it was mine to drink the venom
of the sadness of always suffering,
once I too shall have a serene sky,
and comforted,
and happy I shall be
by the good God.

**The Verse and a Romance**
How young we still were,
Oh, Lord!
And what children we were,
We often looked,
in late nights,
at falling stars,
The childhood youth
of my street,
They dreamed too,
And I dreamed,
Once,
That our youth,
Will be immortal…
How sweet and funny
our game once was,
And our smile was,
Always a good friend,
But if yesterday
was beautiful,
Today, past,
everything is,
And without any purpose,
Are the stars that fall,
But never set!
What a final vacation,
we spent,
all the children,
together,
but today it is autumn
and it is late,
and a romance,
beneath our eyelids,
gathers our tears.
