@SVPhillimore That's how the law works. If your employer tells you to dismiss someone and you do it and that is found to be discrimination you are personally liable. No reason why the Darlington scenario should be any different. The employer will be the one who has to pay ultimately.

@robprogressive It's higher than 45%. Civil servants and public sector workers only notionally pay tax. In reality they contribute nothing to Treasury income / are just a cost. So its comfortably over 50%.

@Heccles94 Rubbish. Public sectors workers contribute 0%. They don't pay towards government income at all. There is a notional "tax" amount on their payslip but that is just money that never leaves the Treasury.
