I'm working hard to get students motivated to read more for academics & at all for pleasure. What better book for a school of chess champions than Steve Sheinkin, Maurice Ashley & Thien Pham's graphic novel Mind Vs. Machine?! Thank you in advance!♟️💙💜

"I love Tommy Greenwald's books! I've never been able to read a chapter bk w/o losing interest; his books are so interesting--the dialogue, the subjects...! I read Game Changer in 3 days! I'm looking forward to reading The Right Call for my LA project!" M.,Gr. 6

@RutaSepetys @SteveSheinkin You're very welcome, Ruta! After meeting you, I have become even more inspired & encouraged by you. I am taking really good notes on You: The Story. By tapping into my memories--the good, the bad, the heartbreaking & the humorous--my writing, is coming along.✍🏾📝📚

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@RutaSepetys @SteveSheinkin The Bletchley Riddle & I went out one day. I devoured the avocado toast, but I savored Bletchley! 'Finished it yesterday. I learned/laughed/gasped! Your teamwork is everything! PB & J? Hmm... Milk & cookies? Well... Ruta & Steve! Yes! Thank you!🧡📚🧡

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@SteveSheinkin @RutaSepetys You're most welcome, Steve! And, yes, I was super happy to see you in person after so many years!! I'm looking forward to seeing you & Ruta online Monday afternoon!

@TODAYshow @wimpykid Jeff is great! I met him in 2016 at a presentation. He is as kind & humble as he is talented! I've been at another school for 9 years, & like before, I proudly hang the photo of us next to the Wimpy collection in our library. My students & I love the pic and the series!

@soulphoodie Bacon and green beans!😋

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@heymrsbond I am not sure if this has been mentioned, but I have this lovely biographical poetry book in my middle school library. It is a gem for which my students and I are grateful!

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@soulphoodie As someone who regularly prepares such *lightly-seasoned" and interesting combos, my initial thoughts were: 1. this person has just had a craving for their favorite things, and/or 2. said person is about to go on a vacation and needs to clean out the refrigerator!

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

Long-awaited yet very necessary! Thank you so much @SteveSheinkin for your gift to the universe that helped my students and me learn about this little known, yet incredibly significant event in US and World History!

@TorreyMaldonado @tonyrossimedia @nancyrosep @SheedyLit @penguinusa @penguinkids Congratulations, Torrey! This is definitely well-deserved! My colleagues and my 6th grade Hands book clubbers (2 years running!) would totally agree! 🤜🏾🧡🤛🏾

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

Are you ready for Relit, a compilation of Latinx remixes of classic stories by @SandraProudman?! I'm looking forward to reading every single one, but I really can't wait for Trespassers Will Be...by @TorreyMaldonado! I know it's going to be a-MAZE-ing!

[Torrey Maldonado @TorreyMaldonado]

@TorreyMaldonado @nerdybookclub @FuseEight @CybilsAwards @nancyrosep Woohoo! Congratulations, Torrey! I am so glad others love Hands as much as my students and I!! 🤜🏾🧡🤛🏾

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@TorreyMaldonado A. said that your words are ones that we hear all of the time, but the way you say them sounds like we've never heard them! They're new! Your sentences are so unique! It's like we're feeling all of the emotions Trev has!🤜🏾🧡🤛🏾 Shout-out to Ms. Larios & her crew!

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@GaryRGrayJr Have you read Hands by @TorreyMaldonado?! It has totally become a fan favorite of my co-workers/fellow educators as well as of my middle schoolers! How about Tight? It's a perfect pick, too, because it resonates w/kids' daily struggles. I'd totally be up for a chat about both!

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@TorreyMaldonado @ambsmcbride Yep!😂🥴😂

[Lori Martin @LaudLibraries]

@TorreyMaldonado @ambsmcbride You said it, Torrey! It's an awful environment to do anything in--teach, learn, let alone grow! I, too, have been "tempted to drink the Kool-Aid" and oftentimes feel "east-west" like you told us Trev feels in Hands. But, we have to stay strong, resist & continue to rise! ✊🏾
