We had our own mock election today, including stickers! We talked about the importance of voting, and how we can disagree with others and still be respectful! #Vote2020#realworldexperience#halehurricanes @HarrisPrincipal
High stake tests given during the pandemic will shame the students, blame the teacher and deceive the public about school performance in this unusual time. We know teachers do WAY more than talk, they are teaching in tougher than normal conditions.@MikeMorath#txed#txlege
I'm concerned with how little the safety of teachers, admin, & support staff are discussed in the conversation about safely reopening schools in the fall. Student learning is absolutely a priority, and the health of the adults facilitating that learning should be important, too.

Students teaching/helping other students without even being asked when I’m with a small group! Love these sweet friends and their willingness to step up and share their knowledge to help others! #whatreallymatters#halehurricanes#2ndgrade@HaleHurricanes @HarrisPrincipal
My fav project so far! A little stem activity in the classroom to integrate combining materials and using their physical properties and our fairy tale unit with the 3 little pigs and the wolf! They’re so creative and even withstood rain and wind! @HarrisPrincipal @HaleHurricanes
All week we’ve worked on writing personal narratives and then we edited them. Today, while I had writing conferences with each student, they recorded themselves reading their own personal narrative! #halehurricanes#writingworkshop @HarrisPrincipal
Our students come from every walk of life...
Some from families that read to them... and some who have to take care of their own families.
It’s a harsh reality but it’s something we must keep in mind, as we may be the best part of the day for our students!

Carving out time in our morning to have morning meeting is so important and insightful! I love learning how my students are feeling, why they feel that way, and drawing from the sentence stems to learn interesting things about each other! #buildingrelationships @PrincipalNH18
