#Cuba Thanks Rob for meeting with leading organisations from the APG that have years of experience working with longstanding partners in Cuba that have seen first hand the man-made humanitarian crisis in Cuba. Canada must stand up and denounce the illegal oil blockade by the U.S.
Cuba is facing a severe economic and humanitarian crisis—and Canada has provided $13.5M in direct international assistance to strengthen food security and critical healthcare.
Last week, I met with the Americas Policy Group, a network of civil society groups focused on human rights in the Americas, to discuss key issues and humanitarian concerns in Cuba.

Canada continues to oppose the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Today, together with Australia, France, Norway and the U.K., we announced coordinated sanctions targeting those supporting extremist settler violence against Palestinian civilians. As we impose this fifth round of sanctions, we remain committed to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace where Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and security.

We welcome Canada’s announcement of new sanctions targeting extremist Israeli settlers and organizations in the occupied West Bank, which was coordinated with European partners.
For the last 8 months, CJPME, alongside our partners, have been advocating for Canada to expand its sanctions regime against Israel, including Libi Construction and Infrastructure Ltd. While we are glad Canada is taking some concrete steps, Canada can and must do more to stop settlement expansion.
Canada must capitalize on this global momentum and impose stronger sanctions on the settlements as a whole, as well as entities that financially encourage and support violations of Palestine’s territorial integrity.

Canada has failed to keep pace with international standards, leading jurisdictions, and civil society proposals to prevent corporate abuse abroad -- all while it expands its partnerships with companies in high-risk sectors.

Thank you MP @SPSTremblay for tabling this important petition in Parliament.
Canada must finally fill the vacant post of Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise and equip the office with long-promised powers and independence.
