Inclusion goes far beyond lip service. Real relationships with disabled people are built through respect, listening, patience, and showing up consistently. When we truly know one another, we all grow, communities become stronger, and lives are changed.
Home and community-based services (HCBS) are not just vital supports, they are economic drivers. HCBS creates 1.65 million jobs, generates $169.5 billion in economic output, adds $105.2 billion to GDP, and produces $24.1 billion in tax revenue. #ProtectHCBS#DisabilityRights
HCBS helps people with disabilities live independently, stay connected to their communities, and give families the support they need to work and remain stable. Cutting HCBS would harm families, strain caregivers, and push people into more costly institutional settings.
Direct Support Professionals work 24/7 to help people with IDDs live safe, independent, and meaningful lives. From mornings to overnight care, medication support to building life skills, DSPs are essential. Protect HCBS and support the workforce people depend on every day.
The American Association of People with Disabilitiesβ REV UP Campaign (Register, Educate, Vote, Use your Power) is building the power of the disability vote by increasing civic engagement and making elections more accessible for all.

Labels and diagnoses are incredibly important to a disabled person, often giving a roadmap to resources and a greater understanding of self. It is also important to recognize that a label is a way to understand characteristics, not the whole person. No one person is the same!
The direct support workforce crisis continues to impact people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2025, 88% of providers reported moderate or severe staffing shortages. Without enough direct support professionals, access to essential services is at risk.
