I want to live in a country where I actually have freedoms and they aren’t always at risk of being taken away or already taken away despite having those freedoms in my lifetime.
I’m very thankful for being able to vote today.
Today I found out that women were able to vote in New Jersey until 1804. Meaning they voted in multiple elections and some of the first presidential elections.
4 northern states allowed free black men to vote through 1820.
I’m so tired of learning how our “land of the free” takes away rights we already had instead of expanding and codifying those rights.
The equal rights amendment, proposed in 1923 (over 100 years ago), STILL has not been passed in the United States and fell 9 votes short in 2023
“Why didn’t they come forward earlier?”
Over half, more than 55%, of the victims named in the P. Diddy case reported with the authorities.
We need to take women seriously. We need to take black people seriously. We need to take gay people seriously.
We need our system to change.
