Not going to lie, had a real wobble arriving @RCPhysicians#RCPMED23 this morning but have had such a fantastic day. Having a baby shouldn’t make us invisible and our projects redundant. Staff & faculty went above and beyond to make me feel welcome & valued today - thank you!
Spoke about it with an ED reg mate of mine, at one point we had an >14 hour wait to be seen:
“They’re all someone’s person that they really care about and love. Doesn’t that make you sad?”
Unbearably so. The moral injury is hurting.
A period of declining public satisfaction with the health and care system has brought with it a whole host of myths claiming to explain why we're in this situation. With this in mind, we've debunked some of the top myths that feature in this debate. 💬 https://t.co/I0LIsGrnGM
Had a very unexpected cry listening to @amateuradam on Desert Island Discs driving home from work.
It isn’t that we aren’t good enough - it’s the nature of the beast. Terrible things sometimes happen.
I also have ‘stay awake’ songs.
I support #PayRestorationNow @BMA_JuniorDocs
@thegradmedic Have snacks that fit in your pockets and at least three pens. A 5am coffee helps the lull before your morning cortisol boost. Other than that, medics are on the whole a supportive and friendly bunch, hopefully you’ll feel valued and well looked after!
@DacreJane After multiple calls/emails to query my pay, my payslips were amended and I assumed all was sorted. I was informed 12 months later *via payslip deductions* I owed £7000 - no phone call, no letter, nothing - I was 37 weeks pregnant. When I called, no one could explain the calcs.
@DrBenLovell Hi Ben, I set up something similar as a project during my chief reg post. We had excellent feedback from trainees. Happy to email you about our set up & the app we used for bookings if helpful? Good luck!
@UKGastroDr ANP elective ascitic drain lists are generally loved by trainees as you can book to attend, learn and get signed off in one sitting by a competent, friendly specialist. Patients are usually happy as it’s a much calmer setting than an acute ward. A win all round?
@walsh_joe There’s a medic mums and dads fb group where you can get a bargain, well looked after second hand pram as well as tons of other baby items 👍🏻
