Apparently you can't just record yourself screaming as a description, so I have relunctantly written some actual words about the problems we're facing as a rescue

It was a real honour to represent @CWGC#EOHO volunteers during the visit, and I was delighted that HRH The Princess Royal was so interested in the work we do, and why we do it. Thank you to @HelenR864 for the opportunity ☺️
This month we were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to our head office in her first visit as our new President.
The Princess Royal was welcomed by our Vice Chairman Peter Hudson CB CBE @pdhudson1 and our Director General Claire Horton CBE @dgcwgc, and met with our staff and volunteers.

Today’s #EOHO visit to Reading Cemetery for @CWGC included a revisit to the private memorial for Francis Henry (Frank) Stevens who died in August 1940. I took a photo 14 months ago (pic 1) but didn’t have time to clear it then, and found today that it needed a little tidy up.
On first glance, I assumed the name on the back of his memorial was his brother, until I noticed the dates. Victor’s son, Flight Sergeant Dudley Ralph Wicks (born June 2021, so just a couple of months old when his father died) died 20 years later on active duty.
Today on #EOHO duty for @CWGC I tidied up the resting place of Flying Officer Victor Houghton Wicks, died Aug 1921 when the R38 airship had a structural failure and crashed into the Humber Estuary. Always rewarding to uncover words on kerbs - Per Ardua Ad Astra in this instance
Spent the morning clearing the resting place of Private Alfred Edward Ambrose who died of his wounds in 1921. His story can be found at https://t.co/TtF95gXvuH. As well as reporting to @CWGC and @HelenR864 as part of #EOHO, also passed the image to @C_G_W_P for their records
Big thank to you the @CWGC#EOHO volunteers and @HelenR864 who came to a group clear up at Reading Old Cemetery today, despite the heat. My main challenge was clearing the grave of William Frederick Rogers, killed in a flying accident in Gosport in 1915.
@CLeeEsq Yes I’ve used this before - for this chap https://t.co/pvqJljVrKE whose grave I uncovered last summer, another challenging one, it was badly overgrown too. A lot of graves in a very poor state in this cemetery, sadly.
@CLeeEsq I wasn’t, thank you, that’s really interesting. I’ll be making a case that his memorial needs repair or replacement so that it’s an appropriate commemoration for him and it’s good to know a little more 😊
Also came across my first ever marble headstone, for Private J A Birnie, tucked away in a peaceful hidden section of the cemetery. There is still some work to do at this site but much less daunting a task now, thanks to the group.
The below two graves of Sgt Sidney Dean and Sgt Christopher Young which I cleared last summer were, to date, the toughest ones I’ve had, but we are due to tackle Reading Old Cemetery in June and there are some there that will be even more of a challenge!
Just avoided the rain yesterday doing my #EOHO visit for @CWGC to ensure all in order for #WarGravesWeek - Here is a work in progress pic of the memorial for Lieutenant John Seymour Ingleby who died aged just 20 in June 2019, faded lettering of his name reported to @HelenR864
Exhausting to watch, but showed great spirit to come back for the win. Home now with crumpets and jam, and looking forward a trip to Brentford tomorrow evening for the Premier League Cup Final ⚪️🔵 #rovers
