@BillPascrell Oh no! He was one of my first political follows because he had such a fierce moral compass and wonderful sense of humor. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. 😢
@MarcusLuther6 I’m an English teacher and was relatively good at it, but my favorite subject was history which is what I majored in. I actually hated so much of school and barely graduated from HS due to mental health challenges. I hope to be better than my HS teachers were.
@rosmcmhn @EdFuller_PSU @DemonAndy55 Nope. This just isn’t true. I’ve had many different stressful jobs and now I’m a teacher. Nothing compares to the demands of teaching.
@elyse_aldridge @heymrsbond I cannot differentiate to this degree in a class of 30 students. An online program like Lexia might move the needle for some students but it needs to be used with fidelity, instruction and monitoring. I cannot do that on top of teaching grade level content.
@elyse_aldridge @heymrsbond Most of these students have gotten reading instruction and it hasn’t worked. They need a more intensive and individualized approach. Plus, many of them have underlying learning differences and have developed coping skills and habits that must be unlearned.
@elyse_aldridge @heymrsbond Because I’ve done this kind of intervention with students. It needs to be super small groups with no distractions (2-3 students, not in a general ed classroom), incredibly targeted, and lots of repetition. All of the brain science says it needs to be at minimum 2x/wk for 60 min
