@Elizabe63974264@Thinkingschool2 And if you're also married to a teacher, are they prepared for it? The additional 'home life workload' because the headteacher is away from home 12-14 hours a day, continues working when they get home and goes into school on weekends and in the holidays is a massive adjustment!
@hkateaching Change of school and/or role & supply it's an option financially would be my suggestions before walking away. My inspiration and role-model in my business left full-time teaching to sell children's books to schools and she's now really successful, I'd love to be like her 1 day!
@hkateaching I also spent the last 3 years building up my business which I started 7 years ago and could give me a way out. I had a change of year group last year and found my love of teaching again (amazing class!) and now have a new role which has made me feel like I am now where I belong!
@MissC_1717 I've been spoilt this year with a fantastic class of 22, I'm part-time so I now only have 1 day on a trip plus 1 am and 1 pm in class with them this week, one full day and one pm with them next week (one am is transition) then the last 2 days of term with them... that's it! ๐ญ
@Books4forSchool Many former teachers and current part-time teachers run their own businesses in partnership with @Usborne - as a DHT you have all the skills necessary to build your own team alongside working with the books yourself - I'd love to chat to anyone looking to reduce teaching hours ๐
@naomicfisher My son recently broke his wrist- can't fasten/ unfasten school trousers & can't get his arm into school jumper with cast on so his school have allowed him to wear black joggers, black trainers and a grey hoodie with shirt and tie - absolutely no negative impact on his education!
@asdfriendly@tombennett71 At 4, he doesn't even have to be in school / education yet! As a teacher I would be much happier if parents were playing games involving letters, numbers, etc; reading and teaching their children basic life skills than just sitting them in front of a screen!
@miss_mcinerney@TeacherTapp None of the above, I would have advised my 18 year old self not to go to uni but to work and buy a cheap house, do it up, sell it and go into property development / rental with one small property to live in and one to do up and sell on and then build a property portfolio!
@Hickesy I've got a proof copy of this sitting on the top of my 'to read' pile, I'd love to be able to gift a signed copy to one of the schools I am currently working with ๐๐๐
@RogersHistory Add to that the Welsh Government budget cuts meaning many schools in Wales needing to lose teachers this year and that could very well see many more leaving the profession!
Feels like a dream ๐ญ my debut has been shortlisted for the @Waterstones Childrenโs Book Prize! So thrilled and so grateful to all the booksellers who have resonated with & championed this book ๐ #WCBP24
@DeputyGrocott There are some ex-teachers who have built amazing, very successful businesses working in partnership with @Usborne - still working with schools + children and making a massive impact but without the challenges teaching brings. My inspiration @brillbooks_ is one amazing example ๐
Great to see 5 of our books on @Waterstones Best Children's Fiction Books of 2023!
