Great talk at #ObesityWeek2024 by @deannahoelscher! A reminder that "context matters" with school health measurement. Also, as evaluators, we need to consider strategies beyond traditional RCTs (like stepped wedge designs) to capture what's happening.
@faithhh_anne I pretty much only survived this because Clemson had a template and I just had to copy/paste into it.
Good luck! You're in the home stretch if this is your biggest worry ❤️

Spending today talking about building resilient and just food systems in North Carolina and the Triangle at the Duke Health 2024 Community Health Summit!
3) indigenous diets have been harmed by the loss of water and land rights, which impacts their place-based knowledge and capacity with local food system support.
Opening the #HealthyEatingResearch meeting by talking about indigenous health and respect for native food systems. A core focus is on the respect of communities and culture.
Some big takeaways from this session:
1) indigenous communities value storytelling and that applies to data as well. It's important to respect what tribes are willing to share and respect that the people own their own data. 2) Remember that these are "people with real lives."
Excited to share our findings from the implementation of a clinic-based food pantry in a pediatric obesity treatment clinic.
We found 50% of families using the food pantry screened negative for food insecurity!

Our commentary in @aap_peds on "Improving the Effectiveness and Equity of Child Obesity Interventions" is available now. We discuss obesity treatment in real-world settings and considerations for barriers, relationship building, dose, weight stigma, and racial/ethnic equity.
Shout-out to @Mrs_Witherspoon for removing this book (Mom's Diet by Joy Cowley) from her school's collection. Kids (especially K-2) don't need any more exposure to #weightstigma and #dietculture.
@taren_swindle Always? No, but sometimes. Especially if I remember broad elements of a talk and can't remember the people, intervention name, etc. Or like "I think I saw a talk where they measured it X way but let me double check."
