@libdemdaisy Great! Could you also stand up for the new businesses that have had no support thus far. I started my pub tenancy on March 30th, invested my own money, kept all staff, created new jobs. But have no access to any grants or loans. New businesses need help.
@morningad 25% down on previous weeks, with no grants, funding or government backed loans businesses starting post March 11th won't last the winter.
We are retaining the jobs and filling the gaps where others have closed, but without support we will be forced to close too.
@morningad With no support new businesses will be the first to go. Taking on a pub after March 11th as a tenant means being a new buiness owner, even though the pub you have taken on has been there since the 17th century, with existing employees and a 3 yr contract. Still no support for us
@morningad@EmmaMcClarkin Now is the time to help those that have fallen through the cracks of funding so far. I took on my pub in May, unfurloughed everyone created 4 jobs and invested heavily to get it open but, as I wasn't trading pre March I am not eligible for any grants or loans.
We need support
@AGKM59 No the funnest of business to be in at the moment is it.
But the last few days have made me respect and value the work those in care have been doing for months now, struggling with 10 hours of mask wearing even with being able to have fairly consta nt access to drinks etc.
Couldn't agree more, my two grew up with me working in restaurants and social spaces and are possibly the most appreciative, thoughtful and discerning customers because of it. Hiding them away from adult environments denies them the positive role models of social behaviour.
Power cut railway chaos! Got to feel for the poor staff taking all the flack, someone yelling โIโve got to get home to my kidsโ right in this guys face, he answers โso do I, my shift finished an hour ago, but Iโm stuck too, only difference is, Iโm not shoutingโ
@LeicesterEBC @Everards1849 @NCSTrust Awesome day, inspirational young people, wonderful mentors, slick organisational skills from the hosts, not to mention the dance moves!
@bbcquestiontime you wouldn't take a job at interview, you would wait for the offer letter with terms and conditions. You wouldn't buy a house based on the estate agent sales pitch you would wait for surveys and costs before committing to it. Why is this deal so difderent?
