आज जून महिन्याची १९ तारीख आली. दुष्काळ महाराष्ट्राच्या वेशीवर आला आहे की काय असं वाटू लागलं आहे.

ह्यावर्षी पाऊसमानाबरोबर आपल्याला तपमानाचाही विचार करावा लागणार आहे असं शास्त्रज्ञांच्या निरीक्षणावरून वाटतं. संदर्भ: अमेरिकेतील National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ह्यांचा अहवाल.

ह्याचे तीन मोठे परिणाम होणार. एक म्हणजे पृष्ठभागावरील पाण्याचं बाष्पीभवन जास्त आणि लवकर होणार, पाण्याचा साठा कमी राहील. दुसरा परिणाम म्हणजे पिकांच्या उत्पादनावर, मुख्यत: फळं आणि भाज्या, परिणाम होणार. मार्च २०२२ च्या उष्णतेच्या लाटेत पीक उत्पादनावर झालेला परिणाम आपण पाहिला आहे, आणि तिसरा म्हणजे चाऱ्याचं उत्पादन कमी होणार.

हे प्रकरण गंभीर आहे.

आधीच इराण-अमेरिका युध्दाचा परिणाम महागाईवर दिसतोय, आता ह्याचाही परिणाम होणार असेल तर आपण चांगल्या तयारीत असलं पाहिजे.

एखादा उमेदवार एका चिन्हावर उभा रहातो. दुसरं चिन्ह असलेल्या पक्षाच्या उमेदवाराविरूध्द लढतो. कार्यकर्ते जीवापाड मेहनत घेतात. उमेदवार निवडून आणतात.

मग काही दिवसांनी,

निवडून आलेला उमेदवार ज्यांच्याविरूध्द लढला त्यांच्याच बाजूला जातो.

असं झालं तर त्या लाखो मतदारांच्या मताची काय किंमत? आणि, जीवापाड मेहनत घेऊन प्रचार करणाऱ्यांची?

कुठवर चालणार हे? कुठल्या प्रकारची लोकशाही म्हणायची ही?

न्यायालय आपणहून काही करू शकत नाही का?

इतकं झाल्यावरही,
नागरिकांनी निवडणुका आणि लोकशाहीवर विश्वास कसा ठेवायचा?

Agreed! Their pride is conditional. They'll claim the mythological Pushpak Viman as proof of ancient greatness, but only partly accept Khajuraho. Selective pride is propaganda, not heritage.

This strange stance is product of false claims about pride in Indian heritage. Those who talk in the name of India's heritage aren't interested in heritage but in politically exploiting only non-liberal elements from past. Not a civilizational project but an anti liberal project.

It is quite funny that those who make the greatest noise about being proud of Indian culture are precisely the ones who want to cover up and diminish one of the most remarkable products of the Harappan Civilization: the statutette of the girl.
