One of the things I am happiest to impart to my students is to collect autumn leaves like they were treasures. So far, I have been very successful.

After tea, in the fade-light, Old Fox walked to the sheep church on the Downs. It was dark, lit by a single oil lamp & deserted but for an elderly hare in the front pew. He was wiping tears away. It's all so hard, he said. I know, said Old Fox & went to sit with him.
This world is hard & heartbreaking. My account is meant to be a place of respite where one can escape, if ever so briefly, to catch one's breath & daydream just a little. It's a space to be reminded that there is still beauty & wonder, kindness & compassion, & hope.
"My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love--I love--I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on."
