The Finnish Government has today taken two key decisions, reflecting the changes in our security environment.
First, Finland will raise its defence expenditure to 3% of GDP by 2029. This is a part of Finland’s contribution to Europe taking greater responsibility for our own defence.
Second, Finland will prepare for the withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention. The decision is based on a thorough assessment by the relevant ministries and the Defence Forces. Finland is committed to its international obligations on the responsible use of mines.
Finland will always remain a responsible actor in the world, safeguarding its security and defence.
Finland ranks first in the World Happiness Report's ranking of the happiest countries for the eighth year in a row.
At the same time, Karelia, once separated from Finland, topped the list of the poorest regions in the russian Federation.
To attack a happy country, sacrifice 200,000 human lives in a winter forest, grab a piece of it, and turn it into a stinking, depressing garbage dump—that is the essence of the Soviet Union.
That is exactly what putin would do to Ukraine and all of Europe.

During my visit to Finland, I discussed key issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with President Alexander Stubb @alexstubb. Naturally, our focus was on defense support and investment in our industry. Ukraine’s position remains unchanged: we are ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with all partners who truly help us.
We also discussed security guarantees and Finland’s potential contribution, the future security architecture of Europe, our European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Today, our ministers are signing a document to launch the Civil Protection Shelter Coalition. As long as Putin continues attacking our infrastructure, we must do everything to protect our people, and we are grateful to Finland for this initiative.
I also informed President Stubb on Russian disinformation regarding the situation on the Kursk front. There is no encirclement there – our troops are carrying out their missions as required for Ukraine.
In Ukraine, we deeply value our relationship with Finland – a true partnership between nations and a friendship between people. Thank you for your hospitality, for this visit – together with the First Lady of Ukraine – for our joint efforts, and for your support of our country and our people.

Today, during my meeting with Speaker of the Parliament of Finland Jussi Halla-aho, leaders of political groups, and heads of parliamentary committees, I spoke about the steps toward a just end to the war.
Our state, together with its partners, is developing a plan to achieve peace and ensure reliable security guarantees for Ukraine. Special attention was paid to supporting Ukraine on its path to EU and NATO membership.
We are glad to be among friends, and I thank the Parliament and all political groups for their unanimous support of Ukraine and our people. We are grateful that the voice of Finnish parliamentarians in support of Ukraine within the European institutions and in the international arena is pro-Ukrainian and loud.
Defense and economic support for Ukraine were among the key topics of my meeting with Prime Minister of Finland @PetteriOrpo.
We discussed efforts toward a just and lasting peace, as well as measures needed to protect Ukraine. In particular, strengthening air defenses, supplying artillery systems and shells, and investing in our weapons production.
We also spoke about the importance of involving as many countries and international organizations as possible in the Civil Protection Shelter Coalition and Finland's participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
I am grateful to Finland for all its support of Ukraine and, in particular, for the 28th defense assistance package.

”No.”
”When will you contact them?”
”We won’t.”
