The Patron Saint of Comedians died telling a joke.
"Turn me over, I'm done on this side"
St. Lawrence was a Deacon in Rome. The Emperor ordered him to hand over the "Church's treasures." Lawrence brought him the poor and the crippled.
He said: "These are the treasures of the Church."
The Emperor was furious. He ordered Lawrence to be grilled alive on a gridiron.
After suffering in silence for a while, Lawrence famously called out to his executioner: "Turn me over. I'm done on this side!"
He died laughing at the tyrant. You can kill the body, but you cannot kill the joy of a man who knows where he is going.
