@ryanswalters73 "Waaah! Lincoln imposed martial law." Had the CSA won, slavery continues indefinitely. There's no 13th Amendment. Funny how you praise the CSA Constitution but don't mention its most salient feature--the permanent enshrinement of "negro slavery." I dunno, seems relevant...
@WanjiruNjoya Nobody has even heard of these people...Also, who cares if the FFs were" good people"? The whole debate is immaterial. Their value is in what they created and how they did so, not their status as role models. If you're looking for "goodness," study Christ.
@WanjiruNjoya You people are so sad. It has not been "debunked"--absurd overstatement. It's certainly contested; that's not the same thing. Those insisting that it can't be true are just as bad as those who desperately need it to be. Get over it, people.
@WanjiruNjoya@dealekat You're projecting. There's no "outright dismissal" except what's coming from you, a maneuver you seem to use a lot. "Time on the Cross" is an important work by serious people. But so is much of the work calling its analyses into question.
@WanjiruNjoya@dealekat That is to say, the claim that race mixing in the 19th century South was "common" isn't a stretch.
Like I said much earlier on, the defensive pearl clutching is pretty amusing. I don't really get it tbh.
@WanjiruNjoya@dealekat F and E are not even close to the last word on this. I also didn't say the majority of slaves, as you know. Most Black Americans have some "white blood." Much more recent studies have concluded that most of this "mixing" happened in the South, pre-1910.
@dealekat@WanjiruNjoya Not hard to verify. Just two examples: https://t.co/Y2W6vyjfCp.

Also, look around you. Do Black people here look different to you than Blacks in West or Central Africa? Ask yourself why. You don't even need these studies, just some sense.
@ricksapp Moronic. What is Lee famous for? The only reason he's known to history is because he led the Confederate army. He's treated as the face of evil because had his side won, slavery would've continued indefinitely. Presumably, you folks think that would've been neat.
@dealekat@WanjiruNjoya You're talking in absolutes. I didn't say "every." I said it was "common"--a fact established by historians, geneticists, and common sense. The great majority of Black Americans have significant European ancestry. Why do you think that is?
