3 yrs mandatory practice to appear for judicial services just going to be such a disadvantage for women. Most of them would just give up and get married. Certainly 5 years of law degree wasn't enough to be a civil judge in lower courts !
Future Judicial officers must have 3 years practice for being eligible now.
It is unfair to the 1st Gen lawyers.
Now there are two young lawyers-
1) First Gen | Must practices for bread | Practice will affect his exam prep| prep will affect practice. *DISADVANTAGED*
2) Second Gen |Can appear on whims| no monetary issue | Can read peacefully.
*ADVANTAGED*

3 year Mandatory Practice Rule passed today by the Honble Supreme Court- makes it practically difficult for Fresh Law Graduates to join the Lower Judiciary

How does the new SC ruling on 3 years of mandatory experience impact Judiciary aspirants?
1. No more preparing for judiciary exam right out of college, first you join the profession and survive 3 years before you register for judiciary exam
2. So even if your plan is to be a judge eventually, now you must get started by developing practical experience around litigation
3. Your first priority is to land a nice job for those 3 years, and you want to prepare for judiciary on the side
This is positive news for us for a few reasons:
1. Judiciary prep is going to be prep on the side while litigating/holding a job in a litigation chamber rather than a full time thing going forward
2. Online mode for prep was not preferred by a large number of aspirants so far, that is likely to change in the new circumstances
3. Since at LawSikho we can combine judiciary prep with other practical courses around litigation, contract drafting etc, and a very active placement office, we stand to benefit in the new environment compared to traditional judiciary training institutes which focus only on judiciary training
4. Judicial clerkship programs/testprep demand will see a large uptick
Interesting times ahead.
The decision by the supreme court - 3 year rule mandatory for Lower Judiciary
If a simple graduate can become a district magistrate through UPSC then why cant a graduate become a civil judge, of the lowest rank?
