The Lawrence Police Department is issuing a warning about scam phone calls in which individuals receive fraudulent calls from a "police officer" from our agency claiming they owe money to the Lawrence Police Department for tickets or other violations.
Ask the caller for their name, badge number, and the department they claim to represent. Hang up and verify the information by contacting the city of Lawrence Police Department using publicly available contact information. Do not use any phone numbers provided by the caller.
