His guilt turns into rage and resentment for himself and that’s why He’s Like That

A lot of why he doesn’t think he’s deserving of love and forgiveness is due to his upbringing and what he was taught (hard to move on from the concept of hell and eternal punishment at 5)

Tedesco’s is this unobtainable and underserving love (one that he never got from life and that he chases) so when he does anything that strains him from the righteous path it’s even worse.

Part of his obsession for Lawrence is what he sees as a model and what he should be

I talked about this before but i imagine each cardinal has a different version of God

Lawrence’s stern, cold & distant, which made him follow the rules very carefully for most of his life

while he does feel guilt, God’s love was never a concept to him, so it’s not overbearing
