Yesterday's GLOF Shocked the world. Reminding us all of the unmitigated power and indifference of nature.

Captured by the survivors on film was and extremely rare opportunity to witness a "Glacier Erratic" on the move.

This massive boulder pushed by the forces will soon rest in place isolated and alone. We have mostly only seen the echoes of this left in place from the end of the last glacial maximum some 20K years ago.

They often sit atop other smaller rocks giving the impression of being placed by man and being confused with Dolmens.

But now we have the visual record to process them with clarity.

As a Kiwi rugby fan who has watched South African rugby over the course of the past fifty five years I have really enjoyed how the game in South Africa has evolved.

Now back to back World Champions, and a nation, through a lot of its youth, has embraced the game in a very special way, and it shares these many things with the world.

Yesterday's encounter against "my team" at Ellis Park was very special for many reasons. Gone are the days of Jean De Villers and Francois Pienaar, of Richie McCaw and Dan Carter.

Now it's time for the Sasha Feinberg Mngomezulu's, the Damian Willemse's , the Ruben Love's and Cam Roigards.

The new era has well and truly arrived, and while there are many disappointed South African fans around today please hear me out.

Don't panic.

This was merely game one in a four test match series. Never question Rassie, this is the man who changed the game in your country, the spearhead of what rugby in South Africa is, and what it means to the nation.

This is the man who turned things around in 2019 at the Rugby World Cup when an unexpected defeat rocked the nation.

This is the man who turned things around last season when the Wallabies had the audacity to do at Ellis Park what the All Blacks did yesterday, a second half performance from the heavens.

Last year a week later in Cape Town, Rassie turned the tables on the Wallabies, and many sensible Kiwi's are already expecting a similar bounce back.

The All Blacks win yesterday has ignited this series. It has given Dave Rennie and all of his men in black the self belief that the seemingly "doubtful" is indeed possible.

For South Africa, it has removed any sense of possible entitlement, and replaced it with "we have work to do". There should be no alarm bells.

Nature has a wonderful way of balancing things. Our two great nations have been at it for decades.

One wins, the other bounces back. We enable each other to be better, to do better, and to play better.

Damian De Allende's 100th game was still special for me. I still missed Siya Kolisi from the Boks team, and I ate my cake post game in solidarity with Ox Nche.

As global rugby fans it always tastes better if we can have empathy for the opposition, remain humble in victory, and salute the incredible scenes our beloved game delivers week in week out.

This is not the just the greatest rivalry tour for me, this is another chapter in the "greatest memory tour" , a tour where rugby fans over the years will look back and say, " I was there at that game," " or , I watched that", or " I remember that".

Rugby is the greatest gift that keeps on giving.

My initial thoughts.

The All Blacks scored 4 tries in the last 13 mins of this game, that's what won it for them...BUT.

Let's look beyond the scoreline.

3 yellow cards in the game for the All Blacks. Not good enough.

High ball retention was dreadful. Beauden Barrett missed 4.

Scrum penalities atrocious. No use having a heavy pack if technique is wrong. Tosi was very poor.

Most concerning point.

It's all very well wanting to run the ball from everywhere but when you come up against a defense that will rush you into mistakes you are a sitting duck. We saw it under Razor and we saw it in this game.

From there the errors compounded. It was a poorly executed game plan that had no plan B.

Opportunistic tries to Ioane and Moorby late on flattered the scoreboard.

We must also remember that this is far from the All Blacks TEST team, my concern is we need to play those guys and make sure they get game time to find flow and rhythm otherwise we will see a clunky disconnected performance.

Rassie and Crew will be licking their lips based on what they saw in this one. The same old All Blacks vulnerabilities from the past couple of seasons are there for all to see.

Clarke came on gave a penalty away with first carry.

The STORMERS need to be applauded. They gave it everything. All the BS around pre season no Boks players etc, etc those guys tried their hearts out and their fans ought to be proud.

Deon Fourier was a standout, huge game. Roos did well and Ahmed in time will improve with experience.

Plenty to work on for the Blacks and they really need to sort out a plan b for a kicking game as the one dimensional run it from anywhere will get you slaughtered in South Africa.
