First, there was a wave of abductions of @NUP_Ug supporters - mostly targeting foot soldiers. Some people said those were hooligans who deserved to be taught a lesson. "Even hooligans deserve due process.", we cried out. Many people looked the other way.
Now, they're abducting the most accomplished in our society.
Maybe if we had worked collectively to protect the lowest in our society, the regime would never have been emboldened to come for the highest in our society.
The same lesson applies to those who are indifferent to the happenings, whether they feel safe on account of being in power, close to those in power, or simply unconcerned.
We are in a dry run of that guy’s presidency!
The choice is ours; we either cheer on and die on or stand up against this brutality and live happily then on!
FREE THE PRESS!
FREE NTV!
FREE DAILY MONITOR!
FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS!
FREE DR. MIRIA MATEMBE!
FREE UGANDA!
NO ONE SHOULD BE COERCED TO APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT THEY DID NOT DO!
Just remembered that Eddie Mutwe was abducted and later released, with disturbing photos circulating online , a priest from Masaka was abducted by the same group, Then there’s Sarah Birete , the lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Tabz, my dear Miria Matembe, Now NTV, Spark Tv , Daily Monitor has been shutdown and others.
We just tweet about these things for a few days and move on. It has become normalized because there’s nothing we can do about it apart from tweeting 😭💔💔.
Did God really forget about us??
All people who openly criticize him are getting abducted day by day, Now companies that work for people are getting shut down. What do you think is the next thing they are going to do on our watch. Ugandans shall we just keep watching ???
Looking at what the regime did in Kalangala yesterday, Would anyone be wrong to assume that they killed Hon Nakimuli to forcefully take over that District, the same way they killed Ffeffeka to take over Kayunga?
Eventually, we got onto another ferry which set off. Mid-way the journey on the lake, its operators got instructions to reverse and return to Bukakata landing site where we came from. Apparently, the ferries will not move to Kalangala for as long as I’m on board.
All other travelers have been stuck since morning, including those on board and the many others who have been waiting outside. I’ve now decided to disembark to stop the impasse, so that the ferries can transport the stranded travelers.
Very sad state of affairs!
When abducters deny knowledge of a person they picked, the fate is likely to be like Sam Mugumya’s. After all they got away with disappearing Sam and nothing happened. Every successful act of impunity emboldens more impunity, in even worse forms.
So, I’m told there is a ploy to potentially add me onto the “Terrorism” file of Butambala, or one of those other files in court.
I’ve said previously; when you fight corruption, it fights back.
Similarly, when you fight bad governance, it fights back!
But we shall overcome.
