I am definitely sleep deprived... I meant to type “I had no idea the university of Chicago was funded by slavery” lol... #almostfinalsweek #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

@mcmakinghistory I was just thinking this same thing! How did humans detach themselves from reality enough to justify the treatment of slaves???

[Layla @Layla04738529]

I find it so shocking to think people were able to dehumanize others enough in their mind to be able to work them to death, separate them from their families, etc humans are capable of some incredibly disgusting things #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

@aubs0214 this is a good point, i feel as though attempting to make reparations could snow ball into a serious issue for the university to deal with. I am wondering how productive this would actually be

[Layla @Layla04738529]

Knowing 1/3 of them were worked to death under Douglas is just so devastating #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

Thats one heck of a wedding gift... #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

Seeing Egypt quickly erupt into such a violent state is terrifying, I cant imagine actually being present and having to live in this #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

all just to see that by the spring, nothing had changed...

[Layla @Layla04738529]

Imagine how absolutely terrifying and also liberating it must have been to be protesting with everyone #AuburnWorldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

they had to have been experiencing so many mixed emotions in that moment: fear, pride, angst, the list goes on

[Layla @Layla04738529]

there are very few things in this world impactful enough to bring people to risk their lives... speaks volumes about the regime #AuburnWorldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

@dillonwgilbert1 @NickRobish I was thinking this as well!

[Layla @Layla04738529]

things like this remind me to appreciate my freedoms #AuburnWorldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

I’ve clearly misunderstood the article lol #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

neoliberalism to big government and heavy regulations #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

maybe im misunderstanding but this just sounds like extreme capitalism. also very laissez faire vibes #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

#neoliberalism just another thing i never learned in high school.... seeing a very repetitive trend here. #auburnworldhistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

@mcmakinghistory if we are being honest, im confused too. i definitely feel like im missing what the article is saying

[Layla @Layla04738529]

letting the Russian ambassador into the war room was... questionable #AuburnWorldHistory

[Layla @Layla04738529]

Adding to everyone talking about the military keeping secrets... I can’t tell if it would be easier now with advanced technology or easier back then because less people have access to technology #AuburnWorldHistory
