Today, I felt a deep pride for the Lukumi Yoruba of Nigeria. After Mrs. Kemi Badenoch made her infamous comments about only identifying as Yoruba, not Nigerian, it was leading Lukumi Yorubas who took to the traditional and social media to condemn and reject her remarks spontaneously and immediately. Their response was heartwarming, especially to the Arewa people Mrs. Badenoch denigrated. The speed, depth, unity of voice, and sincerity of their rejection of and disassociation with Mrs. Badenoch's remarks is a lesson to the elites of other parts of Nigeria who try to hide behind one finger while a critical mass of their region pushes for the division and destruction of Nigeria and use the foulest words to deceive a nation that has given and keeps giving them so much. Especially in VAT, where they consume disproportionately more than they contribute. This reminds me of when Oodua nation agitators attempted to violently storm the Oyo State Government secretariat on Friday, April 12, 2024. The Governor of Oyo did not wait for any Federal Government intervention or call on the Nigerian Army to provide internal security. He used state forces to arrest the perpetrators within hours. The next day, Governor Seyi Makinde destroyed their houses. On the third day, they were in court. Today, they are in prison. Similarly, when the Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos, Frederick Nwajago, threatened to invite the Indigenous People of Biafra to Lagos to protect Igbos, he was IMMEDIATELY arrested and charged to court. Today, he is in prison. No ethnicity or region has shown as much commitment to Nigeria's corporate unity and group interests as the Lukumi Yorubas, and that is why the Southwest is the most developed, wealthiest, and most secure part of Nigeria. For this action, I pray that President Bola Tinubu not only succeeds but lives long and healthy enough to enjoy a second term in office.
