I just have to rant for a second, and I'm sure many will disagree, but whatever - this particular issue has been driving me batty for literally years, and I can't take it any more:

These comms are absolute trash.

Regardless of the validity of the argument being made, the constant refrain of leading off every single comment with "Carney this" or "Liberal that" is a losing strategy to anyone who knows anything about strategic communications, and it's why the LPC have been dog-walking the CPC for over a decade.

At a basic level, the Liberals talk about Canadians, while the Conservatives talk about the Liberals. And all it does is make the CPC appear obsessed with partisanship, and it is as uninspired as it is uninspiring. Sure, it plays well with the base, but it doesn't win over swing voters, and you don't win elections based on how hard people want to vote for you, but rather on how many people vote for you.

So stop talking about how the Liberals suck, and start putting Canadians at the forefront and centre of everything you say. Wanna talk about the national debt? Call it Canada's debt, not "the Liberal debt." Pipelines? Talk about gas prices, jobs, and the value of the Canadian dollar, not "Carney's [insert policy here]."

Can the hyperbole, make 85% of your communications optimistic in tone, and make overt attacks on the Liberals so rarely that people actually notice them, because they've become so monotonous as to become background noise.

And for the love of God, hire actual communications professionals whose resumes don't consist entirely of political appointments, and friggin listen to them.

Well, the general corporate rate was lowered from Klein-Stelmach-Prentice 12% (still lowest in Cda) to 8% by Kenney, costing probably $5b, and Smith did a personal income tax cut that nobody noticed but cost the Treasury 1-1.5b. So, right there, plus their waste, is lion’s share.
