the sad thing about the OP remake designs isn’t that they’re whitewashed. It’s that Oda didn’t realize giving those kids some color was a 20% style improvement and Toei stumbled into it by accident, which has now been “fixed” for accuracy.

I put off watching scavengers reign despite the rec of a trusted friend. having seen it now, it is so profoundly beautiful as a piece of art. not for any particularly grand message but rather a deeply artistic soul. I felt an immense joy and desire to create while watching it.
