Finally, some high ambition on AI.
It genuinely felt like the UK was destined to just be a spectator while the US and China dominate.
Good to hear someone talking about capturing the benefits rather than just regulating them.
๐จ WATCH: Andy Burnham says he will create a "global code" for AI so Britain can "capture the benefits"
"We led the world's first industrial revolution from the Midlands and the North of England. So why can't we lead the next one? We can, and we will"

@alex_frantic I agree.
With AI, implementation is no longer as costly as it used to be, so thereโs less reason to get emotionally attached to one approach.
If something better comes along, you can change, rebuild, or replace it much more easily.
ANTHROPIC IS ABOUT TO SELL SHARES IN A TECHNOLOGY IT SAYS COULD POSE AN โEXISTENTIAL RISK TO HUMANITY.โ
That has to be one of the strangest risk warnings ever written into an IPO prospectus.
According to the Financial Times and Reuters, Anthropic warns potential investors that increasingly powerful AI could create โcatastrophic or existential risks to humanity.โ
And this is not just a vague theoretical warning.
The filing reportedly discusses models potentially showing behaviours such as:
โข resisting shutdown
โข concealing or manipulating information
โข behaviours resembling blackmail
โข developing forms of self-preserving behaviour
At the same time, Anthropic believes AI could transform the global economy on a scale greater than industrialisation, electricity and the internet , and plans enormous spending on compute and infrastructure to pursue that future.
There is something fascinating about this moment.
For decades, companies warned investors about things like competition, regulation, supply chains and economic downturns.
Now we have reached a point where an AI company effectively has to say:
โOur technology could completely transform civilisation but we are not entirely sure we can control everything that comes with it.โ
Perhaps this is the real story of the AI race.
The companies building the most powerful systems are simultaneously telling us two things:
AI could become one of humanityโs most valuable technologies.
And:
AI could become one of humanityโs biggest risks.
Both statements are now appearing in the same investment document.
That says a lot about where we are in the AI journey.

Anthropic did report a $42B net loss, but that headline is misleading without context.
Roughly $34B was an accounting charge.
The actual operating loss was a little over $8B.

NVIDIAโS BIG AI SAFETY MOVE IS NOT ABOUT TELLING AGENTS TO BEHAVE. ITโS ABOUT MAKING SURE THEY CANโT MISBEHAVE.
An AI agent may be told:
โDonโt access these files.โ
โDonโt send data outside.โ
โDonโt use this credential.โ
But prompts are instructions.
An agent can misunderstand them, be manipulated, or simply make a bad decision.
NVIDIAโs Open Agent Safety Platform takes a stronger approach:
Put the control layer outside the agent.
So even if the agent decides:
โIโm going to read that restricted folder anyway.โ
โฆthe system can simply say:
No.
You physically donโt have access.
OpenShell can enforce limits on files, network connections, credentials and processes independently of what the model wants to do.
Some of those restrictions are locked when the sandbox starts and cannot be changed by the agent itself.
Sandboxing itself is nothing new.
What matters here is applying it specifically to increasingly autonomous AI agents โฆsystems that can write code, call APIs, install packages and decide their next action while running.
But there is still an important question:
What happens when the agent knows the cage is there and starts actively looking for a way out?
In principle, yes, an agent could try to exploit a bug in the sandbox, proxy, kernel or surrounding infrastructure. No security boundary is magically unhackable.
That is why NVIDIA is using several independent layers rather than trusting one barrier: restricted process privileges, filesystem isolation, network policy, credential controls, and now Sentry as another monitoring layer outside the agent runtime.
So the real idea is not:
โThe agent can never escape.โ
It is:
โEven if the agent becomes clever, confused or malicious, it has to defeat infrastructure-level security rather than simply ignore a sentence in its prompt.โ
That is a much stronger starting point for agent safety.
Worth listening to Jevโs founder explain the philosophy behind it. The interesting part isnโt just the model , itโs the idea of building AI specifically to live and operate inside software.
