Labour in Westminster handed Oxford Street to the Mayor. The Conservatives are determined to explore all legal routes to challenge but Labour have wasted this particular opportunity. Clearly for Labour its party over country, party over City. Always.
Cllr Tim Barnes @voteTimBarnes lays out the truth about Oxford Street.
We worked through the weekend with legal counsel to explore all options. After months of Labour inaction, the advice is that a successful Judicial Review is simply impossible at this late stage.
Westminster voted for change. We will explore every legal avenue. My offer to the Mayor stands. We will not be ignored.

Glad to hear this morning at Mayoral Question Time that @SadiqKhan will meet me to discuss Oxford Street - I'm writing to him today to fix that meeting. Just been interviewed by @simonharrisitv on standing up for Oxford Street - watch ITV London news tonight at 6pm for the latest
A great @CityWestminster tradition is annual council where the leader and New Lord Mayor are formally appointed. Amid fitting formality it was a pleasure to see @LM_Westminster Karen Scarborough take her seat - she will be a fantastic first citizen for Westminster!
Good to sit down with Katherine Gray from @myldn to talk about Oxford Street and more. I've written to @SadiqKhan office to confirm I'm happy to meet. Catch up with our interview here:

The planned pedestrianisation of Oxford Street leaves basic questions unanswered so I have written to @SadiqKhan suggesting a meeting. We need a scheme that delivers accessibility & works for businesses & residents - my view in today's Evening Standard:

Wishing all our Muslim residents a peaceful and blessed Eid al-Adha.
May this special time bring you joy, reflection, and community spirit. Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating across Westminster.
Deeply saddened by the news a young man has been killed on the streets of our city. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.
@CityWestminster appreciates the grief & worry our community will be feeling, & we’ll do all we canworking with police to support residents.
I'm looking forward to joining @EddieNestorMBE at around 10.15 am for my first studio interview since becoming @CityWestminster leader. Keen to discuss our exciting plans for the City & take Eddie's questions on the back of a weekend of big news. Join us on BBC London Radio!
Really enjoyed my first studio interview with @EddieNestorMBE on BBC London Radio. We covered Oxford Street, pedicabs, tackling anti social behaviour - and even my time as an adviser to Alan Sugar on The Apprentice. Interview from 18mins 21 secs. https://t.co/8PT3NhxSJH
A big evening ahead as I formally become leader of @CityWestminster and a new @LM_Westminster is voted in at our full council. My new cabinet members also take their places. Do join us live from 7pm here

A great meeting with the Knightsbridge Partnership where I gave my support to their re-ballot. Business Improvement Districts - or BIDs - are a building block of the business community, providing a powerful voice at the heart of the Westminster districts they serve.
Coffee with the cops! Great to meet local @metpoliceuk officers at Church Street library & talk about safeguarding our communities. Ward police are essential for reassurance & the fight against anti-social crime. Why not meet your local officers at https://t.co/wQFBp4SrVu
Thoroughly enjoyed my first appearance on the @EddieNestorMBE show as new leader of @CityWestminster. We talked about overnight levy in the #KingsSpeech & our plans for Oxford Street - listen from 2hrs 54 secs. https://t.co/NJJW1oKpVg. Here's to many more Eddie!
"Residents should be proud of their city and feel that their council is on their side. I will make sure Westminster listens, responds and delivers the civic pride our neighbourhoods deserve." Cllr Robert Rigby, Cabinet Member for Resident Services and Civic Pride
Robert Rigby is the new cabinet member for resident services & civic pride. Westminster has a lot to be proud about with great libraries, green spaces & sports facilities. Robert is a keen runner - so where else but Padd Rec running ground for him to describe his new job.
"Westminster is one of the world's great economic destinations. I will back our businesses, unlock investment and make sure planning works for the people who live and work here."
Cllr Tim Barnes, new Cabinet Member for Growth and Planning @CityWestminster
