Naturally I've also been playing Risk of Rain 2, especially after the new DLC released, which was very good. And I'm trying to get into Mycopunk again.
Coming up, I've also got Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Little Nightmares III, Deltarune, and Kirby Air Riders.
Already played an amazing little game called Poco this month (plz check it out) and I'm currently working through Metroid Prime 4 and Skate Story (which were supposed to both be done before the new year lol).
Also gonna be starting up on Mario Kart World and Hades II real soon.
Mainly bc of Silksong and how busy December turned out, there were a lot more I wanted to get done in 2025, but I'll just get to those early this year.
Also many others I just haven't mentioned because I haven't "finished" them yet or I have already long ago.
9 KINGS
Yeah another roguelike, this one caught my attention quite a bit though as it had some strategies I'd never really experienced before. I like how each kingdom has their own mechanics which can be mixed and matched with each other. Lot's of possibilities and fun to watch.
HOLLOW KNIGHT: SILKSONG
Well, here was the wall. September til the end of November, this was basically all I played. I spent so long on this, I did everything there is, and yes it's probably the greatest metroidvania out there. I'm sure we're all aware of this game's praises.
THE NEW FLESH
Even if you don't know much about Red Vox, this game stands pretty well on it's own. Yes it's also an immersive musical album, but I liked exploring the strange detailed environments and hidden secrets. Obviously I'm a sucker for these kinds of graphics as well.
LORELEI AND THE LASER EYES
Absolute cinema. The best mashup of puzzle game and mystery that I'm aware of. The way everything connects together is incredible and I was never tired of trying to uncover more. On top of everything, the aesthetics are also just ever so flawless.
GOLF WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Well... it's golf. With your friends. I have so little to say about this game but I suppose I did enjoy it. Some of the maps are pretty cool especially that they have some crossover ones.
BALLIONAIRE
Ok I would genuinely say this one almost reaches the heights of Balatro. It's almost the same thing but with pachinko, and idk, it's too fun watching the ball bounce onto different pegs and each one does something potentially crazy. Many fun synergies and effects.
PEAK
I think everyone's heard of this one, so I don't really have too much to say. Absolutely the best co-op experience of last year ("friendslop" truly is something special), but don't be mistaken it's still really fun in singleplayer. Very unique, creative, and emergent.
GUILTY AS SOCK!
So this game was funny. Sort of wish I'd gotten to play it more than my group did, but I also understand it really lacks a lot of substance. It sort of relies on the players to make their own version of the game, but when it hits it really does hit.
PONY ISLAND
There's actually quite a bit going on under the surface here, such that I appreciated it a lot more than before I started playing it. I actually don't want to say anything about it, but it's a lot more enticing than the gameplay might seem. Pumped for Panda Circus!
THE BIG CATCH: TACKLEBOX
Dude. I cannot explain how excited I am for the full game; I think it may be the best 3D platformer of all time. This was probably the most I enjoyed PLAYING something in 2025, it felt so good. I urge everyone to just go try it out (it's free).
CRAB GAME
I guess I played this a bit in 2025? Hard to remember but that sort of describes my experience anyway. It's not a bad game, definitely fun with enough friends, but stayed squarely in the 'ok' category and doesn't go much higher. It is free, though.
HOW FISH IS MADE
After Mouthwashing I had to play this. It def has a scent of something compelling, but it's rather short and doesn't result in a whole lot by the end. Still, I liked the atmosphere and one sequence in particular a lot. The dlc content was cool, albeit buggy.
ENA: DREAM BBQ
Wowow what a trip this game was. Not only is the visual presentation just perfect, but there's so much creativity in the setpieces, characters, and even game mechanics. An incredible, branching journey that's ONLY CHAPTER 1! I live for this kinda stuff.
R.E.P.O.
I really want to compare this to Lethal Company purely on how similar the games are, but it is hard to. While the vibes and immersion of the former are quite unbeatable, I think this game is really a lot more complete and varied with content, allowing it to go further.
EVERHOOD 2
Gee what a strange game. And that's coming from a huge fan of Everhood 1. It's such a departure, but also kind of an evolution? The story is all over the place, plus the more standard RPG mechanics are an odd addition, but for what it turned out as, I love it.
POKรMON UNITE
Probably the last thing I expected on this list, but I did play a lot of this. Buddies of mine got back into it and I had to follow suit... it is actually quite fun... Slowbro, Sableye, Decidueye, and Dragapult are my goats.
MOUTHWASHING
Tbh I was not as obsessed with this game as most, but it for sure had a very chilling narrative and enticingly complex characters. Fav part was def the aesthetics of the game as well as the unique premise and how the title came into importance.
