@Yippee_Kai_Day@AJtacticss actually that's an interesting question, when you reach the top of the rank ladder in tournaments will you go back to coal? I think you said diamond/netherite was coming soon, what's after that
this is the real problem with the mob votes and responses to recent updates generally
the Minecraft community as a whole (generalization, but often the case) has largely adopted the idea that things added to the game must be USEFUL.
they are saying "there is no motivation for me to go this biome" about common autumn forest
what is this mass misunderstanding about what biomes are meant to be
why does the autumn forest need new functional rewards
mega truth nuke. minecraft has no idea what it is, the community has no idea what it is. the devs have no idea who to appeal to and their target audience changes from update to update.
gonna be interesting to see the direction the game takes in the next few years
I really don't want to sound ungrateful, because I still respect the devs, but listening to the rationale behind the new updates has me convinced that modern Minecraft's design philosophy is suffering from an identity crisis
unfortunate thing about the new drop is it signals we will likely never get a weather/seasons update :(
can't really do a season transition when one biomes meant to be one particular season forever
NOT HATE!!! I want an end update as much as the next person but new drop is fire
bonus content 2: the things I describe mojang as doing in this thread seem to be more a thing of the past and I'm glad to see it. the appearance of MCSR at live is a great example of this- they're no longer hyperfocused on autofarming as the only way to play. new drop looks neat!
bonus content: mojangs fixation on mob utility and autofarms and whatnot is deeply rooted in colonialist fantasy! not going to elaborate today because I have yapped enough thread to weave a tent of wool stairs but people have dived into this and it is a very interesting topic
what minecraft have yall been playing where its ever been specifically a good survival game
mediocre pve, exploration used to be so much worse, only survival mechanic where you have to manage your wellbeing is (poorly implemented) hunger
the appeal has always been the sandbox
