I agree with @GovAbbott. There’s more work to do:
1. TX is 49th in teacher retirement benefits.
2. TX is 42nd in public education funding.
3. TX is 43rd in teacher pay
4. TX is 2nd in school shootings.
Greg, this is an absolutely sophomoric and inaccurate critique of what’s taking place in Texas public schools.
The only people that might believe you are those corrupted by narratives. It is certainly not the hard working teachers and administrators serving public school communities!
#DoBetter #txlege
@GregAbbott_TX What a disappointment you’ve become 🥺 Makes me sad that this is the narrative you’ve chosen to push for and not fight for the millions of children who deserve better. It’s so disheartening.
“In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.
A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't understand his Spanish.
Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.
A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?"
Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.” The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”Ivan looked at him & replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of that medal?
What would my Mom think of that?”
Values are transmitted from generation to generation.
What values are we teaching our children?
Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways to WIN.”
Calltoactivism
@GregAbbott_TX No, the majority do not want school choice, they want proper funding! You are going to drive out some amazing educators and set back millions of children in their education by not doing your job! This is absolutely absurd and disgusting!
We are in the final days of the #txlege session w/no path to increase funding for our grossly underfunded #txed public schools, even with a historic $33B surplus and a $17B rainy day fund. TX parents want public schools funded, not vouchers. We are watching & we are not amused.
@GovAbbott Parents have education freedom. What we need is a better system to serve and fund our students. Please don’t waste this opportunity to do right for our students.
The #txlege understands the outcome of this session will impact Texas and Texans for generations to come... Will they use this generational rainy day fund and surplus to address this generational threat of mass teacher exodus?
Let's hope and pray we see what they have been saying are priorities come to fruition in the coming days.
