My entire career has been spent working in Indigenous communities. I look forward to continued service to Indigenous populations as a #nursepractitioner, Gayle, Cree/Irish Metis from Alberta, with roots to Lac St. Anne Metis communities and the Michel First Nation #IndigNursDay
“We are asking universities …to stand tall and follow through on the investigative process to defend academic honesty and honorable conduct. The accountability we require must be specific and proportionate to the harm caused to Indigenous people.”
METL issues first response/statement to announce she has retired and will continue to practise law part time. No acknowledgement nor apology to Indigenous people.

#UBC needs to suspend METL and launch an independent investigation into her academic misconduct and Indigenous identity theft. She lied about supervising students and used their names. We need to do the math at how much financial gain she acquired by engaging in this conduct.
I feel that METL needs to make a statement to address this. I know that family history can be complicated but the evidence being gathered is not staking up in her favour. Her work is valuable. Her false identity claims, …not so much. https://t.co/dkbqknMXci
Another example of a non-Indigenous person co-opting Indigenous identity. This is the final step in Colonization, if they cannot kill us (Genocide), they try to become us, to erase us.
Danielle Smith says she has Cherokee roots, but there's no record https://t.co/3hgPq3U94j
