Mom, Wife, NH Senate Democratic Leader, Green Energy Lawyer, Housing Advocate, First LGBTQ+ woman elected to NH - District 21 🏳️🌈 #NHPolitics (she/her)
This morning I was honored to be elected to serve as Democratic Leader of the New Hampshire Senate.
Thank you to the voters of the 21st District for sending me back to Concord and thank you to my fellow Democratic Senators for your trust in me to lead us in this complex time.
These are the eight Democratic Senators who will be fighting every day for the next two years in Concord for you. We will continue to do what we have always done; we will continue to fight for our values. We will push for freedom and opportunity in the Granite State, for reproductive freedom, affordable housing, mental health services, childcare, good-paying jobs, support for our families, clean air and water, LGBTQ rights, fair funding for schools, and democracy.
Granite Staters: we need you now more than ever. Our values remain the same. The issues remain urgent. Continue to use your voice - it makes a difference.

“We have to do more as a city & as a state for affordable housing if we want to grow”
Huge thanks to Jane & co. at the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter for hosting Senate & House Democrats for a very touching discussion on what can be done better for the unhoused.

Yesterday, @LeaderRPK and @PatLongMHT had the opportunity to tour the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter. This visit was a reminder of following through for our communities, and stepping up to support these services as we face a housing crisis in New Hampshire.
Strong words from Manchester’s Senator Pat Long today:
“Elderly people are calling me…they got evicted because their rent went from $1000 to $1895…they’ve always paid their rent on time. Thinking that they now have a record of an eviction is mind blowing”

Today, Senate & House Democrats heard firsthand from individuals who’ve faced homelessness.
Their stories are heartbreaking & all too common.
Putting people on the street is a policy decision. Cutting red tape means nothing if we don’t fund affordable housing.

Yesterday, State Democrats toured the Rochester Childcare Center. In the face of cuts, the challenges they face are existential.
Republicans’ budget gave tens of millions to private schools, but peanuts to childcare.
That is fiscally irresponsible, and morally reprehensible.
A new St. Anselm poll found 78%(‼️) of Granite Staters say we need more affordable housing, and 64% support public investments to take action on this. While Kelly Ayotte and Republicans keep defunding proven housing solutions, Senate Democrats are fighting to deliver for you.
NH Senate Dems back up our talk with action. On Tuesday, we outlined our plans for 2026, including 5 bills designed to make life more affordable for Granite Staters and combat the reckless actions of Republicans from Concord to Washington.

Thank you, @SenatorShaheen. Your decades of trailblazing advocacy has made our state and our country a better place. Your legacy will live on as we carry on the fight. #NHPolitics
Staff Sgt. Jesse Sherrill dedicated his life to protecting NH. His tragic passing highlights the dangers law enforcement & first responders face daily. SB 273—Sherrill’s Law—honors his legacy, strengthening protections for those who risk it all to keep us safe. Proud to sponsor it. #NH #SherrillsLaw #nhpolitics
We asked, you answered. And we heard you loud and clear — funding for education, housing, child care, and lowering cost of utilities and health care. Now it’s onto the Governor. Will she fund your priorities and stop the Republican downshift of costs onto you? #NHPolitics
Granite Staters want lower costs — on housing, child care, & energy. Yet the Govenor's budget does little to address this. We've partnered with @NHDems & @NHHouseDems to launch https://t.co/TXYuzML5ZH, which will break down how the Republican budget cuts impact you. #NHPolitics
Today, I was proud to stand with @AlexisSimpsonNH and call on @KellyAyotte to speak out against POTUS halting federal funding. This move put Granite Staters’ lives & livelihoods on the line and they deserve leaders who will stand up for them. #nhpolitics https://t.co/9Hlh10hpG9
.@ChairmanBuckley: "N.H. Democrats have stood firmly against this policy, and we have successfully blocked it from being passed in the state house. As Republicans continue to propose anti-union, anti-worker legislation, the fight to protect N.H. workers continues..." #nhpolitics
In -10°, 200 brothers and sisters came together to oppose “Right-to-Work. Your #Solidarity is our strength. We need your help!
Use this link to send a letter to your legislator saying that “Right-to-Work” is STILL WRONG for NH:

The other day, I gave an update on what Dems in the Senate are up to at the Kent Street Coalition's 7th Annual Legislative Overview! Watch the video to hear from me as well as an update on the Executive Council and the House. Lots of great information from my colleagues about what we're up to in Concord!

So many of us in America share a lot of the same dreams for our country, and may disagree how we get there. But today marks the beginning of a new Presidency, and the @NHSenateDems are here to work for that future no matter what comes next by getting back to what matters: lower costs, protect schools, address housing and workforce shortages, and - always - keep focus on our Granite Staters, every day. #nhpolitics
