This journey has been filled with moments like this where I find out I’m capable of things I didn’t know I was capable of. Things I would have never known I was capable of if I didn’t just try.
So, try. Just try. Find out what you’re capable of. Don’t live life on the sidelines.
Someday when I reach a healthy-for-me weight that I want to maintain, I would love to get it removed. But for now, it will be a reminder of where I’ve come from and of all the hard work I’ve put in to get where I am now. ☺️
I’ll take it. I’d choose the loose skin over the extra weight every time. Because I’m chasing health. I’m chasing new opportunities. I’m chasing connection. I’m chasing adventure. I’m chasing strength and mobility. And the loose skin doesn’t keep me from any of those things!
My brother in law realized I’ve lost the same amount of weight that he weighs. 😱 So here’s a fun visual! I really didn’t know if I would be able to carry him and I was happy that I could! 🙌🏻 But I’m even more happy I’m not carrying that weight around with me anymore! 🥰
It doesn’t tell me if I’m more confident because I’ve been moving intentionally. These are the things that matter. These are the things that change my life.
I’ve retrained my mind to focus on the life that I’m gaining rather than focus on the weight that I’m losing! 💜
The scale tells me what I weigh. That’s it. It doesn’t tell me if I’m stronger because I’ve been strength training. It doesn’t tell me if I have more endurance because I’ve been walking. It doesn’t tell me if my body is working more optimally because I’ve been nourishing it well.
Not having that as an excuse to use is going to be uncomfortable for me. I’ll have to dig a little deeper. But that’s what this whole journey has been about anyway! 😉
This is the last part of my fears for losing weight journal entry! And that last one is going to be a hard one for me to work through. 🙈 Truthfully, it makes me feel better to blame me being rejected on other people being shallow about the way I look.
Here is part 2 of me sharing my fears for losing weight! 🙈 Writing out the fears I had for losing weight (and the reasons that I possibly self sabotaged in the past) was such an important part of this process for me!
This is part 3 of me sharing my fears for losing weight! I think we’re stronger and more resilient when we realize we’re not alone in the things we feel and think! And how would we know were not alone in what we feel and think unless someone shares it? 😉🥰
If you have fears that are holding you back from making important life changes, I encourage you to write them out. Sometimes just writing them (and now for me, saying and sharing them out loud) takes away their power. 🙌🏻
@swampblossoms The fears are so valid! It’s hard for others to understand! I actually have 3 more parts to this journal entry that I’m going to share too! 🙈
I wrote these down almost a year and a half ago. I know that many people might not understand why someone would fear losing weight. I’ve been in a larger body for the majority of my life. This is my normal. This is what is familiar to me. This is my version of comfortable.
But if sharing this makes even one person think “I’m not the only one?” then it’s worth feeling exposed. I was too comfortable in my discomfort at my highest weight and was scared to change things. I’m so grateful I didn’t get paralyzed in that fear and kept moving forward! 🙌🏻
Changing is hard, whether it’s good changes or not. It’s scary to enter into a season of newness. I had a lot of fears going into this and I still have some of them.
It feels overwhelming raw to share these. 🙈
