Just finished Brook's seminal book, "The Mythical Man Month". I recommend it. In places it is quite dated but many of the original propositions and highlighted problems from 1975 still persist nearly half a century later.

OK: I agree that you do not want to collect too many details too early. No BUGR (Big Up-Front Requirements).
BUT: Any estimate is always a guess and always with incomplete info.
So, you can guess after a bit of discussion when the story is written

@allenholub Some of the guesses (estimates) will make you feel uncomfortable, but if you avg 5 guesses, you feel somewhat better.
Then the Team can prioritized their stupidity, and see (better) where to learn (first).
VERY useful. Always too much to learn. Must prioritize.
