But until recently, I had never heard of The Half‑Boy of Borneo.

Thanks to my co‑author Amos Kamil, I’ve now discovered this powerful folk story — and I’ll probably start using it.

It’s about a boy who is “half.”
Angry. Disruptive. Blamed for everything.
He’s exiled to the jungle to find what he’s missing.

What he discovers?

The other half of himself.

He doesn’t become whole by eliminating his flaws.
He becomes whole by confronting and integrating them.

That feels incredibly relevant to leadership.
How often do we label traits as weaknesses…
when they may simply be undeveloped strengths?

How many “half‑versions” of people are we managing, coaching, or even being ourselves?
