The latest suspension & exclusion data was released today for 2023-2024 full AY. Suspensions appear to be stabilising at their 'new normal' levels post Covid. Feel free to email me for the BCP PowerBI dashboard or higher res versions of the charts.
Circling back to this from earlier in the Autumn term - It looks like clause 45 and 46 of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill will prevent this from happening. (Pp. 131 https://t.co/9805z3eWTj). Other juicy items in the bill include statutory NC for academies + admissions.
Further analysis on UL pay scales following the @JonColes01 tweet. ECTs benefit most. The lumpy differences occur due to TPS contribution variations. This is useful intel if your school recruits in a heavy UL area. What are schools doing to attract teachers vs UL? It's not pay.
@Headteacherchat Lots of good things, but from a large secondary perspective, the assessment system is not as flexible as SIMS, and the Timetable integration for inyear large scale change is very poor compared to SIMS (we use timetabler). Timetabler is just not as good as NovaT -opinions vary.
For BCP colleagues: school capital funding allocations were released today. There are various factors in the calculation, but one to keep in mind is that each discrete school qualifies for £4k base before accounting for pupils, explaining why the UL co-academies receive most.

22-23 susp/excl data released today. Behaviour continues to be on the decline in the post covid era. In BCP there has been a +35% increase in suspensions and +80% in perm exclusions YoY. Grammar schools stepping up. @BS_headteacher@mathewdowns@debbs_198@kateannball@AvothMark
@DeputyGrocott Schools looking at doing this should keep in mind paragraph 205 of the current DfE attendance guidance on register closing times. https://t.co/srDdymLQFA
A quick spreadsheet comparison shows a) oncosts roughly the same for schools, b) The choice comes down to the individual - 14% (net) in the pay packet now, or 20% (net) in the pension for later. Small catch is that the 20% in TPS (currently) increases above inflation each year.
Exclusive: Unions have said proposals by the country’s biggest trust to offer teachers a less generous alternative pension are ‘alarming’
‘Tampering with statutory public sector pensions is dangerous and unwelcome’

@stephenbodman It always feels somewhat voyeristic to see others' timetabling setups! I'm using 'Timetabler' for the first time this year after many years on 'Nova'. It's taken me twice as long as usual, but feel I've learnt a few tricks and next time will be faster. Good luck!
The article linked is the source. I have the figures for BCP junior schools and also by MAT for interested colleagues (via email). https://t.co/6jiUOXKjZM
An overview of the impact on BCP secondaries with the 0.5% topslice which was reported on today by @SchoolsWeek. All BCP schools will suffer, but those with the lowest prior attainment will be hit hardest on a per pupil basis @BS_headteacher@MrDEB74@AvothMark@debbs_198
A clearer look at the suspension and exclusion data released today from DFE. The release covers 2021/22 and these charts show Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch secondary data by school and MAT.
@BenJaneUK The DFE define persistent absence as ">= 10% absence" (thus, "90% and below" following your description choices). This is from their latest statistics guide (section 3.2 Pp. 13) https://t.co/2rIAUJ2NVl
