Uvalde families are organizing a massive rally in Austin on August 27th to demand the age to buy an assault weapon be raised to 21 just like we did in Florida after the Parkland shooting.
It is not our responsibility as workers to do more because they're aren't enough people employed to cover absences and extraordinary events. Everytime we "do it for the kids" and "be a team player" we enable the folks in power to keep us understaffed, underpaid, and unsafe. #WV
I am at my most patriotic when I’m in a public library.
When I remember that we let people borrow books for free, have public access to the internet, and participate in extracurricular learning opportunities, it’s one of the few times I want to shout, “I love America!”
Educators... if you get a parent who seems a little "extra" when it comes to advocating for their child with an IEP this Fall. Please don't take it personally.
It's not you. It's parents who have been told they have to advocate or fail their child.

The “just teach” crowd has no idea what teachers actually do, because, if they did, they would know that schools would not be able to function if all teachers did was just teach.
When I was born in the early 90’s & diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, reaching adulthood wasn’t guaranteed. Today I turn 30 an age I’ve dreamed of reaching. This wouldn’t have been possible without the endless support of my medical teams, parents and my donor. I’m so so happy! 💛💫
Dear new teacher,
You do not need a teacher tiktok, IG, and Twitter. You do not need to open a TPT store. You do not need a specialized handshake for each student or a song and dance for each lesson.+
Note to self: If I want my students to advance and succeed, stop moving the finish line so darn quickly. In fact, put a yield sign on their path. Everyone deserves the chance to walk at their own pace. #maestrareed#equitable
When your response to teachers leaving the profession is to make it easier to become a teacher but not stay a teacher, you’re part of the reason why teachers are leaving in the first place.
A student told me she doesn’t like when she has to “pick her seat” the first day. “Having assigned seats takes the pressure off and doesn’t make anyone sit alone. It’s only fun to pick if you have friends in there.”
Interesting take. Thoughts?
Happy Saturday Language Teachers! I want to take a moment to say if you are at ANY STAGE of moving your language teaching towards developing student proficiency, YOU ARE A GAMECHANGER. You are changing the status quo. You are a revolutionary. Hold your head up high! #langchat
I would love to make a thread of all of the teacher discounts for back-to-school.
Feel free to share any businesses that have discounts for teachers and any links/codes that are offering teachers discounts. #backtoschool#teacherdiscounts#teachers
