I can tell in ninety seconds whether your story will land or waste my time. The tell isn't your delivery. It's whether the story is carrying something to me, or just parking in the room while you enjoy the drive.
My family has a rule. We don't get emotional about the news. Why? Because we weren't there. Someone chose the frame, picked the angle, decided what you'd feel before you ever pressed play.
The word "dead" costs you more deals than any competitor. Once a rep decides a deal is gone, the follow-up stops, the energy leaves the voice, and the buyer feels the exit before you say it. Most of what you wrote off is stalled at a trust gap you never diagnosed.
Audit one thing this week: record how you introduce your work, then read it as a stranger. Every vague word is a gap the client's brain will fill for you, and rarely in your favor.
If you've ever delivered incredible results and still watched a client hire someone louder, you already know the work isn't the problem. The blueprint others use to read you is.
After studying how the brain fills gaps with story, one pattern held across every high-performing consultant I've worked with: they engineer what clients assume about them before the first call. Perception is a system you build, not luck you catch.
Your clients don't buy your framework. They buy the version of themselves they see when you speak. If that image isn't clear, no methodology saves you.
Propaganda used to wear a uniform.
Now it wears your friend's face and speaks in memes.
Some call that evolution.
I call that camouflage.
