@joel120193@Hookean1@MrARobbins@DJGteaching@DrDavidBoyce @STEMyBanda @chatbiology@ChatPhysics You can demo the momentum of photons, shine a bright light in the wind mill and it will spin, despite being in a vacuum, great for explaining by how stars work and the idea that it is the pressure of light pushing out that stops them collapsing under gravity
@joel120193 Madeburg hemispheres, great for showing the power of atmospheric pressure, evacuate with the vacuum pump and seal, then get kids to try to pull apart, explain only thing holding together is air pressure.
@joel120193 Connect in series to an EHT supply at 3k-5kV if you have a diffraction grating or spectroscope they are great for demoing spectra and electron shells/ excitation. I do this with GCSE groups. 100% keep
@joel120193 Do the new ones give a count rate? Or just an active count that you need to determine the rate from? Useful for demoing possible errors from an analogue scale, good for explaining random nature of decay, that’s why the rate will flux, don’t see as clearly on a continuous count
@edmunds_dr Nope, and a small part of why I left the state sector to independent. Variation is the spice of life, the way I plan & deliver varies by class & pupil. Their passions and interests in parts of the course are not generic so why should my lessons be. I think I’d also get bored 🥱
#TRIPLive is the media now irrevocably self-obsessed? With the tragedies of last few days aside, there is an increasing amount of its reportage dedicated to who and how news is being reported and not the time spent on wider global affairs. This is not what I see abroad eg France
@WhistleblowingT The school should consider If boarders can be ID’d and contacted by who uses the room from what’s in the room. That would be a concern.
It could be failing to meet NMS standard 5, by not protecting their possessions if there is damage or loss/theft.
Should have been RA by SLT/DSL
@bbcquestiontime what’s the panellist’s thoughts on the possibility Russian action in #Ukraine is not limited to expansion in #Donbas but an ongoing process of following the theories of Russian globalisation expounded by Aleksandr Dugin & his war party in the Kremlin? #bbcqt
