Help us raise £1000 to support the Leave The BBQ At Home Campaign.. Please #donate on @justgiving and RT so we can help educate people on the dangers of these BBQs. Thanks! https://t.co/X7vCwSFtZ9
Unfortunately this was the result of two disposable BBQs on the fell side.
With the hot weather and the large number of visitors we are expecting over the coming weeks, we respectfully ask everyone to be aware of the potential dangers and act responsibly 🙏♨️🏕
We'd also love you to tag us in pictures of disposable barbecues on sale so we can directly ask the retailer to take them off the shelves. Firefighters heroics last week prevented any deaths from the excessive grass fires we faced. Now we need your help.
With another prolonged dry spell forecast, sad to see @Tesco#Glossop prominently stocking disposable barbecues which are often the source of moorland wildfires in the @peakdistrict - other local supermarkets have removed them from sale - https://t.co/G8KIelc7G5
@peak_chair @peakdistrict @PeakChief It’s like requesting people not to have fires and BBQs in the National Park - then finding every supermarket in The Peak District selling disposable BBQs and firefighters…….
@LeaveTheBBQ
This was @marksandspencer#Macclesfield today.
"Bring on Summer Picnics" and "Forest Friendly". I did read beyond the big letters but anyone stupid enough to use these in the countryside will take it as permission to use in the local forrest.

Tesco - seriously? There are moorland and forest fires everyday at present, destroying endangered bird nests, vegetation, etc. and releasing carbon and you are selling 'Forest Friendly' disposable BBQs? No sure thing.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are currently dealing with a moorland fire in the Barber Booth area near to Edale. We have a number of appliances in attendance, please avoid the area. 🚒
