A 49-year-old Zimbabwean national was arrested in the Moletlane policing area, Limpopo, after police intercepted a truck transporting illicit tobacco worth an estimated R1.5 million.
The operation was carried out by the Provincial Tracking Team, assisted by Tshimollo Security and Investigations, following intelligence about a white Nissan truck travelling from Zimbabwe to Gauteng.
The vehicle was stopped on the R518 road, where officers discovered 333 master boxes of Hookar tobacco.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect was in South Africa illegally.
Police seized the truck, valued at R800,000, along with the illicit tobacco, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to R2.3 million.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Zebediela Periodical Court on 8 June 2026 on charges relating to the Customs and Excise Act and the Immigration Act.

South Africans must not leave Stella alone until she drops the list of the Pakistanis that benefited from the tuck shop grant
we are the popeyes here😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@Olivia_LaGrange We must also deal with Jollofinas who allow Nigerians to use their ID's to open bank accounts and rent places so they can peddle drugs.
An illegal foreigner must feel that he/she is not wanted here. They must denied medical help, schooling, housing, trading space, transport, work, banking services and so on. They must long for their homes countries. We have made it too easy for them. IkwaGogo for them here.
Did you know?
We are supplying Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana and Zimbabwe with electricity.
Yet in all those countries electricity is 26% cheaper than here.
Make it make sense❗️❗️❗️
By the way, there is nothing wrong with living in another country legally.
As long as you are adding value with your expertise as a documented immigrant and you're paying taxes.
The issue is in disrespecting and disregarding people's laws, committing crime and too much comfort.
