Exciting times as A-ILT teams from our 10 LEAP grant campuses dive into learning with @LeeJRutledge from @CTAC_USA. The conversations are amazing, sometimes even sparring! #Engagement#IMPACT
NEW: The conventional wisdom is that parents have grown increasingly furious with public schools. But it's actually people without school-age children who are particularly skeptical of public schools, multiple surveys show. https://t.co/VIwg7fCUAo
School attendance zone boundaries (AZBs) can play a critical role in the integration or segregation of suburban neighborhood schools. Read more about the history and case studies here:

Until fairly recently, there have been meaningful gains in student achievement for decades — but this very basic, important fact somehow defies conventional wisdom. https://t.co/KQQdewK8Pm
Curious to hear what people think. Why have business seen huge changes is streets b/c of Covid but not schools?? Why are schools not pivoting to utilize street space differently around them??
It doesn’t seem compatible to me to say we should respect what children learn at home and scoff at it as irrelevant to obtaining a career or college acceptance.
There's been pushback vs. the idea of pandemic-related "learning loss"--some well taken, some not. Many kids WILL need academic support, but remediation vs. acceleration should depend on what they've missed. More in my latest Forbes post:

@dmtrubman There are many opportunities for school sites to contribute to dense, walkable, transit-friendly neighborhoods, and parking is essential to how a school fits its context.
@MatthewAKraft @AeraOpen I worked with a school that found great success addressing this. One spillover benefit? The signal school leaders send to students about the importance of what teachers have planned when they make an effort not to interrupt.
@matt_barnum I often think about what we ask of families because it makes the lives of educators easier—which can be really important!—but keeping that separate and being intentional about what we ask because we think it helps students learn…
@mdawriter Every school district is sitting on a gold mine of recent data about their families’ hopes and fears. This summer is a great time to think about using these data to address the experience (even beyond place of learning) of any student not well-served before.
