Here's a mid-January baseball/basketball/opera/movies blog. With best and urgent wishes to walk and drive carefully in icy conditions. https://t.co/xjid2mmAPf
Orioles-Rays played 4-game series to a tie. One blowout each, close first game won by TB and classic extra-inning won by Balt. Two changes needed - do away with oven mitt for base runner and Manfred man to start on second base in extra inns. Baseball does not need gimmicks!
Great win in the 10th for Orioles over Rays on SF by raw rookie Colton Cowser and two-inning save by Felix "The
Mountain" Bautista. But "analytic" addicts, take heed - Rays' game-tying 2-run rally in 7th set-up by bunt single by Christian Betancourt. The bunt still matters!
Orioles trying to win series against Mariners after crazy win yesterday where they were thrown out on bases four times. Survived two huge HRs by undrafted journeyman slugger Mike Ford and one by Julio Rodriguez who also robbed Ryan O'Hearn of 2-run HR. Ryan McKenna HR won it.
My Memorial Day Monday blog posted with hopes that Cedric Mullins is not out for more than a couple of weeks but it sure didn't look good. https://t.co/5pCML9v2Z0
Here's an interview about my book BASEBALL'S ENDANGERED SPECIES that was aired on Marty Lurie's pregame show before the Mother's Day game of SF Giants. YIBF (Yours In Baseball Forever)! https://t.co/umf7qYIOZ9
Amazing defensive plays tonight by Yankees' Hicks and Angels' Calhoun give their teams road wins. But games were SO long esp. Yanks-Twins. Plate umps must control and speed up games better (robots not needed!) Maybe also think about limits to ABs - 6-8 swings and you're out.
Happy that Chris Davis got his first hits + first HR of 2019 at Fenway. Would like to think he remembered how 7 years ago he hit and PITCHED O's to a victory in extra-inning game that began for O's a suprise year of contention.
