I’m seeing a lot of Game Of Thrones talk recently about how the show used to be so good, and while yes it was a good show up till season 4 and a bit of 5 and 6, it was still a horrendous adaptation. Examples:

Arianne was completely cut from the books, severely crippling Dornes plot

Faegon was completely cut which ruined Varys’s character and also major claimant with a serious army is just gone

Lady Stoneheart leading the brotherhood

Victarion Greyjoy being the ultimate simp

Character motivations and merged plot lines causing the story to feel completely disjointed

Characters just straight up being killed off because the writers had no idea how to handle their skill or intelligence

These are not “minor” changes. They are extremely heavy handed omissions that drastically streamlined the show just because the writers wanted to gtfo

This is part of the reason GRRM needs to finish the books so the show can eventually be remade either through animation or another live action adaptation that’s done properly
