Thread 🧵: The @OIG_Baltimore released a report this week about Baltimore paying city employees more than $312,000 for hours that were largely unworked as part of their separation from City Hall. These are public employees paid with taxpayer dollars. All public.
Yet, like all OIG reports, the names of the employees were not disclosed. The OIG’s job is to investigate waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars, yet when they complete an investigation, they withhold the names of the individuals and companies that they looked at
There’s no statute that says the OIG has to do this. So I’ve requested underlying documentation trying to learn more about these cases, and @MayorBMScott’s law department searches for justifications to deny any additional disclosure
@MayorBMScott Here’s what they said in regard to this case: Essentially, yes, you are entitled to know who was paid what, but if you know who was the subject of this investigation and ask directly about them. But we will not tell you who they were, bc that’s a “personnel investigation”
@MayorBMScott Is this a nothingburger, a simple review of who was publicly paid what; or a confidential personnel investigation involving potentially serious consequences? Honestly I think it’s more the former, but they want to maintain a shield blocking transparency in these cases generally

When Maryland Gov. Wes Moore rolled out dozens of election endorsements, one name was conspicuously off the list: Senate President Bill Ferguson.
Turns out they had a deal to endorse each other ... until they didn't.

Inside the endorsement that wasn’t.
Gov. Wes Moore and Senate President Bill Ferguson had a deal. Then the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act.

Just how expensive was the Key Bridge rebuild approaching before Gov. Wes Moore exited from the contract with Kiewit?
Potentially up to $9 Billion.

A Kiewit-built Key Bridge could have cost $9 billion. Instead, Maryland is seeking a new contractor.
